Canada Day Long Weekend Concert Day

Hello friends!

Not too sure how many of you are Canadian but if you are, you know we have a beautiful long weekend to celebrate Canada’s 146th birthday. Yay for monarchy! On Saturday, I had the pleasure of celebrating the long weekend with a glorious festival day chalk full of Canadian artists (and one American – but we’ll forgive them because they rock). Yukon Blonde, Serena Ryder, Jimmy Eat World, Metric and City and Colour were all there to perform their outstanding tunes for us at one of Canada’s most beautiful places: the Niagara Parks.

Tamara and I went to Clifton Hills and the Falls first because she hadn’t been for a very long time (16 years – whoa!). We went into Ripley’s 4D Movie Theatre which was actually quite terrifying and then headed down to the Falls to take a ride on the Maid of the Mist.

ImageWe then drove to the picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake (Butler’s Barracks National Historic Site) to see the aforementioned lovely people do their thing and let me tell you this: nothing gets better than Dallas Green performing with outstanding Canadian support acts on a gorgeous day in the summer. And even though it rained on us during Metric’s set, we still had the absolute best day.

The outrageous crowd waiting for Metric and City and Colour. Look at those storm clouds rolling in.

ImageDallas performed everything from Sometimes to The Girl to Sorrowing Man to Harder Than Stone and it was absolutely flawless, as always.

The day ended pretty late around 3am and even though I went to bed completely pooped, I was also very very happy! All in all, a really successful day trip out to Niagara.

I also vlogged the day here. How did you spend your long weekend, Canadians?
